As the Liberty A-League Women's comes to a close for the 2022/23 season, four senior capped Australian players have announced their retirement from football, with Teigen Allen, Tara Andrews, Ellie Brush and Kim Carroll all calling time on their playing career.
We look back at their time representing the green and gold.

Kim Carroll - Cap 133
Defender Kim Carroll made her senior debut for Australia against China back in January of 2005 at 18 years old, coming off the bench to make her first appearance.
For almost a decade Carroll was a regular member of the squad, representing Australia 54 times including at three AFC Women’s Asian Cups and the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011.

The defender helped Australia lift the 2010 AFC Women's Asian Cup, playing the full game against DPR Korea as the Matildas' went on to win 5-4 on penalties.
Carroll found the back of the net twice for her country, one of which she scored in the Asian Cup against Korea Republic.
The defender's club career saw her represent Brisbane Roar and Perth Glory in the A-League Women's competition, becoming just the fourth player in the league's history to make over 150 appearances.

“The plan was to stop when I stopped enjoying it, but that hasn’t been the case as I’m still enjoying it and I’m keeping up and I’m competitive," Carroll said.
“But it just feels like the right time." the defender told perthglory.com.au upon announcing her retirement.
Ellie Brush - Cap 167
Defender Ellie Brush made two senior appearances for Australia, after a strong season with hometown club Canberra United, Brush earnt her first appearance for Australia against Italy in January 2009.
Her next appearance in the green and gold would come in 2012, making her starting debut for Australia in a friendly against Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in Wollongong.
Brush's career saw her make the move overseas to play, signing her first overseas contract with Avaldsnes IL in Norway. The defender then made the move to the USA, making 29 appearances for the Houston Dash before returning home to sign with Canberra United.

Brush enjoyed a 15-year career in the A-League Women's, representing Canberra United, Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC. She also played 20 games for the GWS Giants in the AFL Women's.
“After playing for such a long time, I feel the time is right to finish my playing career,” Brush said.
“Football has played such a massive part in my life, and I have loved every minute of it. I have some amazing memories of my time both here in Canberra and elsewhere and will always have fond recollections of my time playing in Canberra." Brush told canberraunited.com.au upon announcing her retirement.
Teigen Allen - Cap 173
Teigen Allen made 40 appearances for Australia, making her debut for her country during the 2010 AFC Women's Asian Cup as a 15-year-old in our opening game against Vietnam, going on to help Australia lift the trophy.
The defender then represented Australia at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany, one of the youngest players in the squad, making her World Cup debut against Equatorial Guinea when she came off the bench to replace Sam Kerr.

Allen would also appear for Australia at the 2014 AFC Women's Asian Cup, helping her country to a second-place finish and thereby qualifying for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
The defender was then named to Ante Milicic's 23-player squad for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France, however, did not make an appearance for her country in the tournament. Allen ended her career with Newcastle Jets, after making 127 appearances in the A-League Women's and lifting the Championship and Premiership twice.
Tara Andrews - Cap 196
An iconic face in the Newcastle Jets side for over 14 years, Andrews called time on her professional career at the end of the season for her hometown club.
Her debut came back in 2009 for the Jets, making 129 appearances for the Jets, placing her second overall in appearances for the women’s side.
Andrews made her debut for Australia back in 2015, coming off the bench in the Matildas' 1-1 draw with China in the Dewellbon Cup. Her next appearance for Australia would come the following month, coming off the bench to replace fellow Novocastrian Emily van Egmond in the side's 1-0 win over South Korea.

The forward was presented with her official cap last year at Australia's game against Canada in Sydney, thanking her for the contribution she made to the team and to Australian football.
