Ellie Carpenter and Chelsea have one foot in the door of the UEFA Women's Champions League, defeating Real Sociedad 5-2 in the first leg of qualification.
Elsewhere, Sam Kerr and Mackenzie Arnold prepare to face off in the NWSL for the second time in two months, while the final weekend of preseason in England sees Alanna Kennedy's London City Lionesses travel to take on Teagan Micah's Lyon.

UEFA Women’s Champions League
The first leg of the third round of UWCL qualification occurred midweek.
Eintracht drew 1-1 with PSG in front of a rollicking home crowd. Both teams scored within seven minutes, but the French side managed to hold on for the remainder of the match for an important away draw. Hayley Raso was introduced for Frankfurt in the second half while Jamilla Rankin was an unused substitute.
Chelsea were big 5-2 winners against Real Sociedad to put them in the best possible position for the away leg. Ellie Carpenter picked up two assists for the fourth and fifth goals, setting up Lauren James and former Lyon teammate Melvine Malard. She started and played the full match at right-back.
Sweden
FC Rosengård host BK Häcken on Saturday, 10pm AEST. It will be a tough assignment for Rosengård against a team currently top of the table, but they will need to do everything they can to pick up points to avoid relegation. Remy Siemsen, Isabel Gomez and Bryleeh Henry will be available for Rosengård.
Malmö FF travel to play Växjö DFF on Saturday, 11pm AEST. A win would see them remain in third and potentially gain some breathing room in the UWCL qualification spots. Amy Sayer, Courtney Nevin and Charli Grant will be available for Malmö.
United States
Sam Kerr and Mackenzie Arnold will meet again as Gotham FC host the Portland Thorns on Saturday, 10am AEST. Kerr found the back of the net when they played last month and will be hoping to replicate that again, while Arnold will be attempting to prevent that very outcome. Gotham are currently top of the table, seven points clear of second and the Thorns in third.

Germany
Eintracht Frankfurt host 1. FC Nürnberg on Sunday, 10pm AEST. Frankfurt will likely rotate their side, with the second leg of their UWCL qualifier against PSG in their sights. Hayley Raso and Jamilla Rankin will both be available for Frankfurt.
Italy
Como face the tough task of taking on last year’s winners Juventus on Sunday, 2am AEST. They will need to win to put them in the best possible position to advance from their group. Alex Chidiac is expected to start for Como.
Meanwhile, last year’s finalists AS Roma host Sassuolo on Monday, 2am AEST. Wini Heatley will be hoping to make her first start of this season as Roma hope for a win that would make it very difficult to be caught in first place in their group.
Canada
Kahli Johnson’s Calgary Wild will hope to continue their uptick in form as they take on Vancouver Rise on Sunday, 8am AEST. They are now unbeaten in four matches in all competitions – after previously having not won an NSL game this year – and another win against Vancouver would only highlight their belief going forward for the rest of the campaign.
England
It’s the final weekend of preseason in England before the WSL kicks off on September 5 (AEST).
Arsenal took on Charlton in a midweek friendly, a game that they won 5-1. Kyra Cooney-Cross scored the third of their goals, a long-range effort for which she has become renowned, in an emotional moment for teammates and fans. She was also named Player of the Match for her efforts.
Steph Catley started for the Gunners with Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord involved in the second half. For their opposition, Emily van Egmond started, with fellow Australians Grace Johnston and Leah Davidson also involved.
London City Lionesses take on Lyon on Saturday, 11pm AEST. The friendly is a fascinating one between two sides in the same ownership group as the Lionesses look to make their mark on the world footballing stage. Alanna Kennedy will be available for the Lionesses, while Teagan Micah has been involved in preseason for Lyon.
Tottenham Hotspur host Bristol City on Sunday, 11pm AEST. Clare Hunt has had limited availability during preseason as she continues to rehabilitate the knee injury that she picked up during the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™.
In the second tier, Kaitlyn Torpey’s Newcastle United take on Burnley on Sunday, 11pm AEST, in their final preparation ahead of the season starting next weekend.
