CommBank Matildas forward Remy Siemsen highlighted the positives from the international window after Head Coach Joe Montemurro’s first stint in charge of the national team came to an end.
She was speaking to media after the team’s 3-2 victory over Panama on Tuesday evening.

“He's [Montemurro] brought in a totally different energy, and all the girls have adapted to it really well,” she said.
“I've just really enjoyed my time working with Joe. He's really believed in us players throughout the whole squad, and he's really shown that in who he's played and given debuts.
“He’s helped me get some more minutes with the national team, and I'm so grateful for that. He's really instilled a cool way to play, and we've all adapted to that.
“Obviously we're still learning, but it was a really positive few performances. We're still learning and still trying to adapt, but I'm really excited for what's to come.”
She was full of praise for fellow striker Michelle Heyman after her second-half brace helped turn the game around.
“I love playing with her, and I think we have a really good connection up top,” she expressed.
“There were a few key players that I think that stood out tonight, but obviously Michelle did her role really well.”

Siemsen will now return to her club side, Kristianstads, where she plays alongside Amy Sayer.
She hopes that she can take the lessons from this camp back to her week-to-week football.
“[It’s about] just taking the principles and everything that Joe's implemented, and trying to build on that and develop it individually in my team environment,” she said.
“I'm in a competitive team over in Sweden, and playing alongside Amy Sayer is always nice. We got to work together today in the midfield, which was cool, and I hope that we can continue pushing to be selected in the upcoming camps and push our spots for the Asian Cup.
“We want to hone in on our club environment, but also touch up on what Joe's taught us. Hopefully, we can come into the next camp, if selected, and show what we've learned.”
Like all of the players in and around the national team environment, selection for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ on home soil is in the back of Siemsen’s mind.
She said that she will take things game by game as she hopes to put herself in the best possible position for selection.
“I just want to take it week by week, training by training, game by game, and obviously hoping to get consistent game time in a really competitive environment overseas,” she said.
“If I can continue doing that, hopefully Joe can continue watching, and hopefully that will push my case for upcoming camps.
“I just want to put my best foot forward and take every opportunity when I come into camp. It's something I never take lightly, or for granted. It’s a privilege to be in this camp, and I was really grateful for the minutes that I was given.”
