Adelaide United 0 – 1 Wellington Phoenix

The Wellington Phoenix finally picked up their first win of the season, overcoming Adelaide United 1-0.

The Phoenix have played some eye-catching football this season but with little to show for it. It was looking as if the first half may have been meandering towards the same conclusion. However, in first-half stoppage time, Maya McCutcheon scored after a set piece to be the difference between the two sides.

Matilda McNamara started and played the full match for Adelaide in another solid performance.

Western Sydney Wanderers 0 – 4 Brisbane Roar

The Brisbane Roar rose to the top of the table after a commanding win over the Western Sydney Wanderers.

Momo Hayashi scored a first-half brace before Tameka Yallop and American Emily Pringle scored in the second half to seal the result.

Yallop and Sharn Freier both started the match. Freier was withdrawn in the 67th minute as she continues her recovery from injury, while Yallop played the full game.

It was a milestone occasion for Yallop, who - in her 153rd appearance for the Roar - broke the appearance record for her hometown club.

Central Coast Mariners 1 – 1 Melbourne Victory

The Central Coast Mariners maintained their unbeaten record, drawing 1-1 with Melbourne Victory.

The Mariners scored first through Gosford local Annalise Rasmussen and held the lead through much of the game, playing some eye-catching football in the first half. However, Victory hit back in the second, finally breaking through thanks to an 85th-minute goal to centre-back Kayla Morrison.

Izzy Gomez started for the Mariners before being withdrawn in the 70th minute. There are some injury concerns coming out of this game for Gomez ahead of her first CommBank Matildas call-up – she is still awaiting scans to determine the severity.

Jessika Nash also started and played the whole game for the Mariners, while Emily Gielnik and Alex Chidiac both played the full match for Victory.

Newcastle Jets 1 – 1 Western United

Two wonder-strikes from defenders in the second half meant that the Newcastle Jets and Western United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Western United had a golden opportunity to open the scoring in the first half through a penalty, but Chloe Logarzo saw her spot kick saved by Tiahna Robertson. Instead, it was Claudia Cicco who scored first, striking for the Jets in the 71st minute.

Western would walk away with a point, however, thanks to a long-range effort from Grace Maher.

Natasha Prior started the match for the Jets before being withdrawn due to injury. However, she has been cleared of anything serious and will link up with the CommBank Matildas as planned.

Chloe Logarzo played the full game for Western, while Chloe Lincoln started her first match for her new club in goals, making a number of impressive saves.

Canberra United 1 – 1 Perth Glory

Canberra United came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw with Perth Glory.

Perth started the game in the ascendancy, dominating shots and possession in the first half. They were rewarded with a goal through Isobel Dalton and went into the half a goal to the good.

The second half was much more even as Canberra looked for the equaliser. They soon found it thanks to a long-range effort from Mary Stanic-Floody, assisted by Michelle Heyman.

Heyman played the full match for Canberra after surviving a small injury scare in the first half.

Sydney FC 1 – 1 Melbourne City

The first Grand Final rematch of the season ended in a 1-1 draw between Sydney FC and Melbourne City.

Sydney FC were well on top during the first half and Mackenzie Hawkesby helped them capitalise, scoring in the 6th minute. Melbourne City equalised soon after through Lourdes Bosch.

Sydney continued knocking on the door in the first half but were unable to find the lead again. City came back into it in the second half but were well marshalled by Sydney’s defence.

Hana Lowry started the match in midfield but had to be withdrawn due to injury. There is no report yet on the severity of her injury ahead of her first CommBank Matildas call-up.

Leah Davidson and Karly Roestbakken both started for City, while Bryleeh Henry came off the bench at half-time.
