Adelaide United 3 – 0 Perth Glory

Adelaide United extended their record unbeaten run to eight games with a convincing 3-0 victory over Perth Glory.

Erin Healy opened the scoring before Chelsie Dawber doubled their lead in the second half. The margin remained two goals until second-half stoppage time, when Healy completed her brace and solidified the result.

Matilda McNamara started and played the full match for Adelaide.

Wellington Pheonix 1 – 1 Melbourne Victory

The Wellington Phoenix will feel unlucky to walk away with only a point, holding second-place Melbourne Victory to a 1-1 draw in Wellington.

Maya McCutcheon opened the scoring for the Phoenix early in the first half. The home side had a number of chances throughout the game but were unable to convert. A team like Victory were never going to go away, and eventually were rewarded for their toil, with Nicki Flannery scoring not long after coming off the bench.

Alex Chidiac and Emily Gielnik both started and played the full game for Melbourne Victory.

Canberra United 1 – 1 Central Coast Mariners

It was a hard fought clash at McKellar Park that ended in the Mariners clinging onto their top six place – two points ahead of Canberra – with a 1-1 draw.

The Mariners scored first, with a fantastic finish late in the first half. However, Canberra hit back seconds after the break in the first half. Michelle Heyman was on the end of some superb build up play and slotted the goal home for the equaliser.

Both sides had chances to find the winner, but weren’t able to do so. Heyman started the match up top, while Jessika Nash was one of the players tasked with marking her for the Mariners.

Newcastle Jets 0 – 2 Melbourne City

Despite creating a number of chances, the Jets were unable to find their way past top-of-the-table Melbourne City, falling to a 2-0 defeat.

City needed until the second half to score but once Laura Hughes found a way through, only one result looked likely. Holly McNamara made sure of it in the second half when she ran from within her own half to slot it past the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.

Hughes started the game for City alongside Bryleeh Henry and Karly Roestbakken. McNamara came off the bench in the second half due to load management. Leah Davidson is unavailable for City due to injury.

Meanwhile, Tash Prior started and played the full match for Newcastle.

Sydney FC 1 – 2 Western United

Western United moved up to fourth with a 2-1 victory over Sydney FC.

Chloe Logarzo opened the scoring before Mackenzie Hawkesby equalised for Sydney. CommBank Young Matilda Kahli Johnson moved to the top of the golden boot standings with Western’s second goal late in the first half. Despite a penalty to Western United in the second half, that is where the scores would remain, with the visitors securing a narrow win.

Logarzo and Chloe Lincoln were in Western United’s starting eleven.

Western Sydney Wanderers 2 – 1 Brisbane Roar

The Western Sydney Wanderers picked up their second win of the season in a shock victory over the Brisbane Roar.

Sienna Saveska opened the scoring, and the Wanderers could have had more goals in a fairly dominant first half. Zara Kruger’s second-half goal equalised things for the Roar – assisted by Laini Freier – but the Wanderers would not be denied at home. On her return from injury, it was Holly Caspers who scored the winner late in the second half and secured the three points for the Wanderers.

Laini Freier and Tameka Yallop both started for the Roar, while it was confirmed this week that Sharn Freier would be unavailable for the remainder of the season with an ankle injury.
