Newcastle Jets 1 - 0 Western Sydney Wanderers

The Newcastle Jets defeated the Western Sydney Wanderers 1-0 in an entertaining clash at No.2 Sportsground.

Hometown hero Lauren Allen scored the only goal of the game in the first half, in her milestone 100th league appearance. The Wanderers put the pressure on throughout the game to equalise, but often just lacked that clinical final ball that would allow them to create clear-cut opportunities. Western Sydney goalkeeper Sham Khamis made a number of fantastic saves to keep her side in the game, including preventing two stunners from Melina Ayres that would have sealed the game. In the end, though, the Wanderers couldn't find a way through a sturdy Newcastle.

Tash Prior was a key part of Newcastle's defence and clean sheet before being withdrawn in the second half.

Canberra United 3 - 0 Perth Glory

Canberra United won for the first time this season, defeating Perth Glory 3-0 in a clinical performance in front of goals.

Michelle Heyman scored early before Emma Robers doubled the lead in the eighth minute. The Glory had a clear intent to try to get a goal back, but struggled to retain possession and had a particularly hard time with the midfield battle. Bethany Gordon's second-half strike from outside the penalty area sealed the result for Canberra.

Heyman started the game and, as well as scoring the first, assisted Gordon's second-half goal.

Wellington Phoenix 1 - 0 Melbourne Victory

The Wellington Phoenix shocked Melbourne Victory 1-0, walking away with their first three points of the season at Porirua Park.

Pia Vlok became the youngest goalscorer in Phoenix history in the first half after they were forced into rotation due to a number of serious injuries. Victory created chances but could not find a way past Wellington goalkeeper Victoria Esson as the home crowd in Wellington willed their side home. It was a welcome three points for the Phoenix, who have ambitions of reaching the top six for the first time in their history.

Sydney FC 1 - 0 Central Coast Mariners

Sydney FC remain undefeated to start the season, overcoming defending champions Central Coast Mariners 1-0.

The game was evenly poised late into the second half before CommBank Young Matilda Maddie Caspers scored a wonder goal to burst the game open. Despite arguably having the better of the chances throughout the game, the Mariners were not able to find a way through, and Sydney won their second consecutive game at Leichhardt Oval.

In good news for the Mariners, Isabel Gomez started her first game of the season after nursing an injury through the first few rounds.

The Brisbane Roar had the bye this week, while the match between Melbourne City and Adelaide United has been rescheduled for mid-December due to City's Asian Women's Champions League commitments.
