Western United 2 – 0 Newcastle Jets
Western United bounced back after a heavy defeat last week to overcome the Newcastle Jets 2-0.
CommBank Young Matilda Kahli Johnson scored a second-half brace for Western United after they survived a tough first half. The Jets will be frustrated not to have scored in their periods of dominance but were unable to find a way through.
Chloe Logarzo started the match for Western United, while Chloe Lincoln was on the bench. Tash Prior started for the Jets but received a straight red card late in the game.

Wellington Phoenix 2 – 0 Perth Glory
The Wellington Phoenix were victorious in the first Distance Derby of the season, defeating Perth Glory 2-0.
Grace Jale came back to haunt her former club, scoring just after half-time, while Olivia Fergusson sealed the result in the 69th minute. It was a comfortable victory in the end for the Phoenix, who finished the round in the top six.
Central Coast Mariners 0 – 1 Adelaide United
Adelaide United became the first A-League Women’s team to win at Woy Woy Oval, scraping past the Central Coast Mariners 1-0.
Emily Hodgson scored her first goal in almost eight years early in the game to give the Reds the lead. The Mariners had a number of chances to equalise but Adelaide goalkeeper Claudia Jenkins was up to the task, her fifth clean sheet of the season the most in club history.
Matilda McNamara started and played the full match for Adelaide, while Jessika Nash did the same for the Mariners.

Brisbane Roar 1 – 2 Canberra United
It was the hottest ticket in town at Perry Park this weekend, but few could have predicted the final scoreline, with high-flying Brisbane Roar brought low by Canberra United for the second time this season.
The Roar huffed, and puffed, but struggled to break through. When Laini Freier scored her seventh goal of the season to take the lead in the golden boot race, the home fans could have been forgiven for thinking that they had secured the points.
However, Canberra refused to go away. A long range effort from Emma Robers locked things up before Michelle Heyman did what she does best, winning a battle with her defender and scoring the winner in the final few minutes of the game.
Heyman started and played the full match for Canberra. Sharn Freier and Tameka Yallop were both heavily influential for the Brisbane Roar, as they started and played the full match as well.
Sydney FC 1 – 1 Melbourne City
Sydney FC looked closer to their championship form as they held Melbourne City to a 1-1 draw.
City dominated possession as expected, but it was Sydney FC who had the better chances in the first half. CommBank Young Matilda Indiana Dos Santos hit the post twice but it was Lucy Johnson who got the scoring underway, a long-range howitzer giving the home side the lead.
However, for the fifth time this season, City recovered after conceding first. After being substituted on in the second half, Holly McNamara picked up the ball high after a Sydney error playing out from the back. Her pass set up Leticia McKenna who scored an equaliser and meant that the match ended with honours even.
Karly Roestbakken, Leah Davidson, Laura Hughes and Bryleeh Henry all started for City, while Holly McNamara came off the bench in the 60th minute – only minutes before assisting City’s only goal.

Melbourne Victory 4 – 4 Western Sydney Wanderers
For the second week in a row, the final match of the round was a rollicking one, with Melbourne Victory and Western Sydney Wanderers playing out a dramatic 4-4 draw.
Reigning Julie Dolan Medalist Sophie Harding got the scoring underway early in the first half. Victory equalised just before the break, Kiwi international Claudia Bunge scoring after a corner from Alex Chidiac.
The match exploded into life in the second half. Ellie Wilson gave Victory the lead for the first time before Sienna Saveska launched a long-range effort into the back of the net from distance to level it once more.
Victory would have thought they had secured the three points when an own goal and Chidiac’s first goal of the season gave them a two-goal advantage in the 87th minute. However, the Wanderers came back again, Talia Kapetanellis scoring her first A-League Women’s goal before Harding completed her brace – and the comeback – in stoppage time.
Chidiac started and played the full match for Victory. Emily Gielnik started on the bench due to carrying an injury – she entered the match in the 63rd minute.
