Sydney FC 0 – 0 Adelaide United

Sydney FC and Adelaide United played out a scoreless draw to get the round underway on Friday.

It was a valuable point for Sydney, but continues a worrying trend – they are now up to five games without scoring a goal. Meanwhile, the point for the Reds sees them rise to eighth, only two points out of the top six.

Adriana Taranto started for Adelaide.

Perth Glory 3 – 1 Western Sydney Wanderers

Perth Glory continued their outstanding home form, defeating the Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1.

Emma Tovar and Susan Phonsongkham gave the Glory a two-goal advantage at half-time. Yuan Cong pulled one back in the second half, before Ella Lincoln sealed the win for the home side.

The Glory rise to fifth on the table while the Wanderers remain at the bottom.

Wellington Phoenix 1 – 2 Melbourne City

Melbourne City were too strong for the Wellington Phoenix, defeating the home side 2-1.

First-half goals to Leticia McKenna and Aideen Keane gave City a strong start. The Phoenix turned things around in the second – and a debut goal for Makala Woods gave them hope – but they were unable to earn a point.

Holly McNamara and Alexia Apostolakis started for City, while Karly Roestbakken and Bryleeh Henry were introduced from the bench.

Newcastle Jets 1 – 2 Central Coast Mariners

For the second time this season, the Mariners came from behind to earn three points in the F3 Derby, overcoming the Newcastle Jets 2-1.

The Jets had the better of the chances in the first half and were rewarded with a goal to Kelli Brown before the break. However, the Mariners hit back, and goals to CommBank Young Matilda, Peta Trimis, and Australian U23 international, Annalise Rasmussen, secured the win for the visitors.

Natasha Prior started and played the full game in defence for the Jets, while Isabel Gomez was unavailable for the Mariners due to suspension.

Melbourne Victory 0 – 1 Brisbane Roar

No Kuilamu, no Yallop, no worries for the Brisbane Roar, as they defeated Melbourne Victory 1-0 on Sunday.

Youngster Daisy Brown scored her first competition goal in the second half to secure the result in a stop-start encounter. Victory had a number of chances late in the piece as they chased the game, but Chloe Lincoln was equal to them, putting in a fantastic performance between the sticks.

Lincoln and Sharn Freier both started for the Roar, while Grace Kuilamu and Tameka Yallop were unavailable due to injury.
