Football fans will have their opportunity to spread the cheer this weekend, with an A-League Women's matchday filled with December derbies and in-form internationals.
Football fans in the nation's capital will very much be in the gift-giving mood on Thursday night, when their side Canberra United open the round against Brisbane Roar.
After the Roar supporters threw toys onto the pitch for charity last weekend, Canberra have now teamed up with the Salvation Army, to create their own initiative. All spectators at the match will have the chance to donate presents and toys, with decorated trees placed outside every entrance to Viking Park.
On the pitch, both sides remain winless after three matches, hoping to regain control of their season.
Commonwealth Bank Matildas teammates, Karly Roestbakken in green, along with Roar duo Katrina Gorry and Jamilla Rankin, have started the campaign with a combined five single-goal defeats from five matches. To emphasise how unlucky both sides have been, all of those matches saw the winning goal converted after the 80th minute.

A Monday night double-header will showcase a number of in-form Commonwealth Bank Matildas, with Sydney FC hosting neighbours Western Sydney Wanderers, before Wellington Phoenix play a resurgent Newcastle Jets.
The Sky Blues seem to have already staked their claim for a consecutive Premiership, with Australian trio Remy Siemsen, Jada Whyman and Jess Nash, arguably amongst the league's top performers from the opening month of matches.
