The Central Coast Mariners will take part in an elimination final for the second time since returning to the competition last season, this time hosting the match against Canberra United.
This match is an incredibly difficult one to predict. Canberra finished fifth, playing quite different football from last season. They have scored significantly fewer goals, but have also conceded significantly fewer - a more controlled style, headlined by a hard-working and creative midfield, has seen a large amount of success.
The Mariners, meanwhile, have continued their momentum from last season. Players who were otherwise unheralded have emerged as some of the best in the league. They have always had a fantastic defensive record, particularly given the fact that midfielder Taylor Ray has been forced to play centre-back in the latter half of the season due to injuries – key for them will be making sure they are clinical at the other end of the pitch.
Jessika Nash will be available for the Central Coast Mariners as their only fit natural centre-back. She will no doubt be tasked with marking Michelle Heyman, who is expected to line up at the front of the line for Canberra United.
Adelaide United v Western United

Adelaide United are looking to win their first-ever finals game on the back of their best-ever A-League Women’s season – but standing in their way are a determined and unpredictable Western United.
At their best, Western United are capable of blowing teams away. At their worst, they can be played off the park themselves – most notably, conceding eight against Brisbane Roar earlier in the season. They will go into this game as underdogs but will back themselves to cause an upset.
The Reds have been exhilarating in attack this season and will hope to welcome back Chelsie Dawber after injury in this game. They will also hope that Fiona Worts and Erin Healy continue their fantastic form to help them elevate what has already been a fantastic season.
Matilda McNamara will have a heightened role in the centre of defence after an injury to defensive partner Zoe Tolland last week. Chloe Berryhill will be available for Western United.
Melbourne City will take on the lowest-rated winner, while Melbourne Victory will take on the highest-rated winner, in a two-legged semi-final starting next week.
