England
Chelsea required a dramatic stoppage-time winner to defeat Liverpool 2-1 in the first semi-final. Olivia Smith gave Liverpool the lead in the first half before Erin Cuthbert equalised in first-half stoppage time. Chelsea had more possession and four times the amount of shots as Liverpool, but the tie looked destined to go into extra time – until Aggie Beever-Jones scored the winner in the 94th minute.
Sam Kerr remains unavailable for Chelsea as she continues her rehabilitation for her ACL injury. Teagan Micah was an unused substitute for Liverpool.
Two early goals for Manchester United saw them overcome rivals Manchester City 2-0 to book their place in the FA Cup final. Celin Bizet and Grace Clinton were the goalscorers as they saw out a well-deserved victory.
Mary Fowler started for City, but was forced off in the first half after picking up what looked to be a knee injury.
The FA Cup final is scheduled for May 18.
United States
The Portland Thorns picked up their first win of the season on Saturday (AEST), defeating the Utah Royals 1-0. Reilyn Turner scored the only goal of the game in the first half, and it proved to be decisive. Kaitlyn Torpey started at right-back, while Mackenzie Arnold was not deemed fit enough to play after her injury during the international window.
Angel City FC moved to fourth on the table with a 3-1 victory over the Houston Dash. Macey Hodge, Riley Tiernan and Alyssa Thompson were the goal-scorers for Angel City in a game where they made full use of their 31% share of possession. Alanna Kennedy started the match in midfield.
Gotham FC defeated the North Carolina Courage 3-1. Brianna Pinto’s stoppage-time goal for the Courage proved to be only a consolation after Gotham scored three goals in the space of only a few minutes on either side of half-time. Cortnee Vine was not named in the matchday squad.
France
Paris FC achieved the rare feat of taking points off Lyon in the league, drawing 2-2 on the weekend. Mathilde Bourdieu was the hero for Paris, scoring a stoppage-time equaliser. Ellie Carpenter played the full game at right-back for Lyon, while CommBank Matilda #226 Sarah Hunter came off the bench for Paris FC late in the game.
Sweden
Kristianstads DFF fell to a 1-0 defeat against Malmö. Sara Fornes scored the goal in the first half that proved the difference between the two sides. Remy Siemsen started for Kristianstads up top while Amy Sayer remains unavailable for the team as she draws ever closer to completing her ACL recovery.
AIK Fotboll also fell to a 1-0 defeat, in their case to Norrköping. The only goal of the game was scored in the first minute and when they were forced to play almost the entire game with ten after a fourth-minute red card, getting back into the game was too large of a hill to climb. Jada Whyman remains unavailable for AIK with a knee injury.
Denmark
FC Nordsjælland have fallen further behind in the title race, drawing 1-1 with third-place Brøndby IF. They fell behind in the second half only for Cecile Larsen’s goal to rescue a point. They are now seven points behind first place. Winonah Heatley started and played the full match for Nordsjælland.
Netherlands
FC Twente have advanced to the KNVB Women’s Cup Final with a decisive 5-1 victory over Saestum. Jaimy Ravensbergen and Charlotte Tamar Hulst both scored braces in the comfortable victory. Daniela Galic was an unused substitute for Twente.
Germany
TSG Hoffenheim defeated RB Leipzig 5-2 on the weekend to cement themselves in the top half of the table. There were four different goal scorers, plus an own goal, as they kept Leipzig at arm’s length. Jamilla Rankin was an unused substitute for Hoffenheim.
