Women’s Super League
Arsenal defeated Manchester City 4-3 in a see-sawing battle that has major implications for the top four.
The Gunners raced to a two-goal advantage through Mariona Caldentey and Lotte Wubben-Moy – the latter goal assisted by Kyra Cooney-Cross. Mary Fowler scored City’s only goal in the first half – a header – before her penalty in the second made it 3-3 after goals to City’s Vivianne Miedema and Arsenal’s Frida Maanum. The winner came via Stina Blackstenius for Arsenal in the 78th minute.
The result means that Arsenal leapfrog Manchester City into third place. United remains second, while Chelsea maintains their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Mary Fowler started for City and played the full match. Steph Catley and Kyra Cooney-Cross both started for Arsenal. Caitlin Foord was unavailable.
Elsewhere, Everton secured their third win of the season in style, defeating Leicester City 4-1. Kelly Gago scored a brace while Katja Snoeijs and Honoka Hayashi – assisted by Clare Wheeler - were also on the scoresheet. Wheeler started and played the full match for Everton while Courtney Nevin was a second-half substitute for Leicester.

Liverpool defeated West Ham 1-0 to draw ever closer to the top half of the table and far away from the relegation zone. Leanne Kiernan was the sole goal scorer in the first half as the Reds held on for the victory. Teagan Micah started in goals for Liverpool and kept a clean sheet, while Katrina Gorry played the full match in midfield for West Ham.
Chelsea required a late own goal to squeeze past Aston Villa 1-0. 10th-place Villa has been good both times they have faced the defending champions this season but weren’t quite able to walk away with a point, with an 82nd-minute Sarah Mayling own goal the difference between the two sides. Sam Kerr remains unavailable for Chelsea.
An early Elisabeth Terland goal was enough for Manchester United as they defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0. United largely dominated the game but were unable to score a second, keeping Spurs in it right until the final whistle. Hayley Raso and Clare Hunt both played the full match for Tottenham, with Charli Grant an unused substitute.
