Hosts

Brazil were selected as hosts on the 17th May 2024, with 119 votes for the Brazilian bid, beating out the Belgium–Germany–Netherlands bid with 78 votes.

This will mark the first time the FIFA Women's World Cup™ will be held in South America and Latin America, and will be the last time the tournament will be contested by 32 teams, with the 2031 edition having 48 teams.

Qualified Teams

Australia were the first team to qualify after the hosts, Brazil, with the CommBank Matildas booking their spot in Brazil following their win over DPR Korea during the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ quarter-finals.

Japan, China PR, DPR Korea, the Philippines and the Korea Republic will join Australia as the AFC representatives. New Zealand secured OFC's spot after a 1-0 win over Papua New Guinea in April.

Colombia and Argentina have secured their spot in next year's tournament following the CONMEBOL Women's Nations League. From Europe, Denmark, France, Germany and Spain have already secured 4 of the 11 allocated spots for UEFA, with qualifying still ongoing in this region.

The CONCACAF W Championship serves as the qualifying competition to determine the representatives from North America, Central America and the Caribbean, with four direct slots up for grabs.

The 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, set to kick off next month, will decide which countries take CAF's four automatic spots, with the four quarter-final winners in the tournament qualifying directly for next year's tournament.

Ten teams, from six confederations, will have a chance to qualify during the inter-confederation play-offs towards the end of the year. With Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei, Venezuela, Ecuador and Papua New Guinea sealing a spot in the play-offs.
