An early goal for Jutta Rantala was enough to see Leicester City defeat London City Lionesses 1-0. Both teams heavily rotated for this game, with Emily van Egmond rested for Leicester and Alanna Kennedy starting and playing the full game for the Lionesses.

West Ham defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 in a much-needed boost for their season. Seraini Piubel and Shekiera Martinez were the goal scorers as they overcame an early deficit to take the three points. Katrina Gorry was rested for the Hammers.

Germany

TSG Hoffenheim narrowly overcame SGS Essen 1-0. Selina Cerci’s first-half goal proved the difference between the two sides. Jamilla Rankin was a second-half substitute for Hoffenheim.

Two first-half goals meant that Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Werder Bremen 2-0. Frankfurt have moved to sixth before the international break, and will be hoping to improve that later in the season. Hayley Raso was an unused substitute.

Italy

Sassuolo held on to defeat Como 1-0. Despite Como having a mountain of chances and possession, Sassuolo’s defence – including Jessika Nash – held firm after Naomi Eto’s 12th-minute goal. Nash started and played the full game for Sassuolo while Jacynta Galabadaarachchi was an unused substitute. Alex Chidiac came off the bench at half-time for Como.

AS Roma eased past Napoli 3-1. Alice Corelli scored a brace before Napoli found a consolation goal in stoppage time. Winonah Heatley played the full game in the heart of Roma’s defence.
