Manchester United have won their first-ever Women’s FA Cup final since the club was re-formed in 2018, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at Wembley on Sunday.
The game was a relatively even one before Ella Toone’s goal on the stroke of half-time gave United the momentum. They took full advantage in the second 45, with Rachel Williams scoring before a Lucia Garcia brace made sure of the win.
Charli Grant was a 68th-minute substitute for Tottenham but was not able to turn their fortunes around from the back four. She is the twelfth Australian to play in an FA Cup Final but will not join the exclusive list of Australians who have lifted the trophy.
France
Paris Saint-Germain have scraped past local rivals Paris FC 5-4 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 in regulation time. PSG fell behind twice but managed to equalise through Grace Geyoro and Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Geyoro scored the winning penalty and sent them through to the play-off final next week.
After starting their final regular season league match last week, her first since returning from injury, Clare Hunt was an unused substitute for PSG in the semi-final. Sarah Hunter was not in Paris FC’s matchday squad.

By contrast, Lyon made light work of their opponents in the semi-final, defeating Reims 6-0. Kadidiatou Diani scored a brace while four others found themselves on the scoresheet. Ellie Carpenter started and played the full match at right-back.

Lyon sets up a final with PSG next Saturday to see who will lift the D1 title, with this season the first since 2004 to see playoffs introduced following the end of the regular season.
Sweden

San Diego Wave was forced to settle for a point as they welcomed the reigning champions, Gotham FC. Ella Stevens opened the scoring for the visitors midway through the first half, turning and firing from close range to give Gotham a 1-0 lead heading into the break.
Hanna Lundkvist made it 1-1 for the home side, heading in a corner in the 64th minute to even the game up. Despite chances for both sides, neither could find the go-ahead goal to see out a win.
Emily van Egmond started and played the whole game in midfield for Casey Stoney's side, while Kaitlyn Torpey came off the bench in the 72nd minute to replace the goalscorer, Lundkvist.
Spain
A winner to Norwegian international Vilde Bøe Risa has given Atletico Madrid local bragging rights over Real Madrid, coming away 3-2 victors in an entertaining clash. While the game will have no bearing on Real’s second-place finish, it was an important three points for Atletico to stave off the challenge of Levante for third. Hayley Raso came on for Real in the 80th minute.
Denmark
A late equaliser to Nordsjaelland’s Josefine Funch secured a 1-1 draw against Aarhus on the weekend. It was in some ways a missed opportunity given that second-place Brondby were defeated by Koge – but it still sees them two points clear on top of the table with three league games to go. Winonah Heatley started and played the full match for Nordsjaelland.
