The NWSL returns this weekend with two players looking to make their debut, while WSL sides continue their pre-season.

Perth International Football Cup
Pre-season tours have taken CommBank Matildas close to home as teams prepare for the 2024/25 season.
The Perth International Football Cup is set to host Katrina Gorry’s West Ham United, Mary Fowler and Alanna Kennedy’s Manchester City, Courtney Nevin’s Leicester City, and Paris Saint-Germain next week.

Manchester City will take on Leicester City on Wednesday, 28 August at 6.15pm AWST (8.15pm AEST). West Ham United will take on Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday, 29 August at 6.15pm AWST (8.15pm AEST).
Then, on Sunday, the teams will match up in a doubleheader to decide who is the winter of the Perth International Football Cup. The games will be held at 2.05pm AWST and 5.05pm AWST (4.05pm AEST and 7.05pm AEST).

Otherwise, it will be broadcast live and free, and on demand, on Optus Sport.
United States
The 2024 NWSL season gets back underway this weekend for Round 17.
Mackenzie Arnold will have the opportunity to debut for Portland Thorns as they take on Gotham FC on Sunday, 4.30am AEST. It will be a hotly contested battle with the sides sitting fifth and fourth on the ladder respectively, and if Arnold does debut, she will be looking to have an immediate impact.

San Diego Wave will host Angel City FC on Sunday, 6.30am AEST. The players will be looking to turn their disappointing season around as they welcome Head Coach Landon Donovan to his first game in charge. Emily van Egmond and Kaitlyn Torpey will be available for the Wave.
The North Carolina Courage will travel to Seattle to take on the Reign on Monday, 12pm AEST. The Courage currently sit sixth, safely in the top eight but with teams chasing behind them. Cortnee Vine will be available to debut for the side in her first stint at an overseas club.
Sweden
AIK Fotball takes on Vittsjö on Saturday, 11pm AEST. They currently sit twelfth, meaning that they are in danger of having to face a relegation play-off at the end of the season. Jada Whyman signed with them during the international break and will have the opportunity to help them turn their fortunes around for the first time this weekend.
Kristianstads DFF host Piteå on Sunday, 10pm AEST. Kristianstads have had a less-than-ideal return after the Olympic Games and will be hoping to put ninth-place Piteå to the sword. Clare Polkinghorne and Remy Siemsen will be available while Amy Sayer continues her rehabilitation at the club.
After defeating Hammarby 2-1 on Thursday (AEST), BK Häcken will take on the currently undefeated Rosengård on Tuesday, 3am AEST. Aivi Luik will be hoping to help her side stay in the title race in what is a must-win match.
Denmark
FC Nordsjælland will be hoping to continue their perfect start to the 2024/25 season as they take on Odense Boldklub on Saturday, 11pm AEST. Odense currently sits third with one win and one draw. Winonah Heatley will be available for Nordsjælland.
Netherlands
FC Twente will take on fellow Dutch team Anderlecht on Saturday, 10pm AEST in a friendly as they continue to build towards their UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against Cardiff City. Daniela Galic is likely to get some minutes as she continues to build her fitness and familiarise herself with international club football.
England
The pre-season is underway for WSL clubs, with Arsenal and Chelsea going head-to-head at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. on Monday morning at 6:00am AEST.

Both sides recorded wins over NWSL clubs in their first hit-out in their pre-season game, with Arsenal beating Washington Spirit 2-1 and Chelsea defeating Gotham FC 3-1.
