CommBank Matilda Kaitlyn Torpey said that the team was hoping to bounce back against Haiti after their defeat to Germany earlier in the week.
She was speaking to the media on Monday ahead of the team's next match on Wednesday morning (AEDT).
"Germany were a great side. They're obviously number three in the world, so there's a lot of learnings we can take out of it," she said.
"Haiti are going to pose a different threat to Germany, and it's about now us preparing for the World Cup and coming up against various opposition. So that's what we're going to get in Haiti, and we want to bounce back from the loss.
"We always want to win. I don't think the scoreline reflected our performance against Germany, but of course, good teams like Germany are going to capitalise on our mistakes, and that's exactly what happened. So we need to learn from that and take it into the Haiti game."
Haiti are coming into the game on the back of a 5-1 loss to Japan. However, with limited opportunities to play international football, she said that the squad's focus was very much on themselves.
"The focus is just on us," she explained.
"Honestly, every opposition is going to be different, and Japan poses a different threat to what we do. So, it's not a reflection on our game. We're just focused on us into this Haiti game and hope to get a result similar to Japan's result."
Torpey is in the middle of her first full season with Newcastle United in the WSL2. She said that having consistency playing in one position in clubland has been important, while continuing to be a versatile asset for the team.
"The consistency that I'm getting at left back is proving to be really beneficial there, which is nice," she said.
"The more game time I can get there, the better I feel. I'm a versatile player, and I can play a lot of different positions. But to get that consistency in one spot is just going to help me in the future."
With each game, the team's tactical principles continue to become more and more instilled.
"What Joe's aiming for is control in possession, but also control out of possession," she said.
"You see teams like Germany, and they're obviously a quality side, and we're not going to have the ball the whole game. What we need to not stress about, is that we can let them have the ball - but we're still in control. Then when we get the ball back, we can be calm and be on the ball a lot more. So that's what Joe's instilling in us, and that's what we need to take going into the World Cup.
"We need to be close to players to allow us to play balls to each other, and everyone's in the right position, so we all have an option for each other and the game plan going into that particular game."
