Matildas Abroad Review: Häcken hold on to first place; Cooney-Cross picks up an assist for Hammarby

BK Häcken kept their spot at the top of the table, Cooney-Cross picks up an assist and Wave FC beat the ladder leaders in the NWSL.

USA

Kicking off in the USA, Alex Chidiac's Racing Louisville came from behind to seal a 1-1 draw against Washington Spirit, despite playing a third of the game down to 10 players.

Trinity Rodman opened the scoring for the hosts in just the third minute before Savannah DeMelo's attempt from the spot tied things up in the second half. Racing went down to 10 after a straight red card to Elli Pikkujämsä in the 77th minute, Chidiac did not feature in the matchday squad for the game. 

Next up, Emily Van Egmond's San Diego Wave FC moved into second on the ladder after defeating Gotham FC 1-0 in New Jersey.

Makenzy Doniak's goal just minutes after being subbed on was the difference between the two sides, with Wave moving into second place on 19 points.

Sweden

In Sweden, Aivi Luik's BK Häcken held on to their place at the top of the table in Sweden, with a 94th-minute matchwinner from Filippa Curmark sealing the 1-0 win over Kristianstads DFF.

Luik played the whole game as Häcken prepares for their Swedish Cup Final against Cooney-Cross' Hammarby on Tuesday night (11 pm AEST). 

Kyra Cooney-Cross' Hammarby got backing winning ways after back-to-back draws, defeating IFK Norrköping 2-1.

Norrköping took the lead just 12 minutes into the game before Hammarby equalised before the interval through Maika Hamano. 

Cooney-Cross provided the assist on the matchwinner, finding Hamano for her second of the game from a free kick. Hammarby booked their spot in the Swedish Women's Cup final this Tuesday night (11 pm AEST), with their last trip to the final back in 1995, with the side looking to lift the trophy for just the third time. 

Teagan Micah's FC Rosengård recorded a dominant 7-1 win over Växjö DFF. Rosengård had six different goalscorers in the game, with Olivia Holdt opening the scoring just four minutes into the game. Micah did not appear in the matchday squad. 

Lastly, Clare Polkinghorne, Katrina Gorry and Charli Grant's Vittsjö GIK recorded a 1-1 draw against last-placed IFK Kalmar.

Kalmar took the lead just 11 minutes into the game, with Wilma Finnman opening the scoring. Vittsjö found the equaliser through Kajsa Lind to clinch a point. 

Grant and Gorry played the full match, while Polkinghorne did not appear in the matchday squad. 

Norway

Our last stop takes us to Norway, where Tameka Yallop and Larissa Crummer's SK Brann faced a 2-0 defeat to Rosenborg BK.

Goals to Emilie Joramo and Synne Hansen sealed the win for Rosenborg, with Crummer playing the full game and Yallop not appearing in the matchday squad.
