Hayley Raso was once again instrumental for Eintracht Frankfurt, assisting a goal in their 2-0 victory over Swedish side Malmö FF to advance to the final stage of UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers.
Elsewhere, Kahli Johnson picked up an assist as her Calgary Wild side won their first game of the season, coming from behind to overcome the Vancouver Rise.

UEFA Women’s Champions League
Eintracht Frankfurt have advanced to the third round of UWCL qualifying, defeating Malmö FF 2-0. Laura Freigang scored both goals for the German side to see them through to the next stage. Hayley Raso continued her fantastic form, picking up an assist for the second goal, while Jamilla Rankin was an unused substitute for Frankfurt. Amy Sayer and Courtney Nevin both started for Malmö, while Charli Grant was an unused substitute.
Malmö will now participate in the Europa Cup, while Frankfurt will compete in a two-legged playoff to determine if they will advance to the UWCL group stage. The draw will take place on Tuesday.
United States
Gotham FC continued their fantastic form in the NWSL with a 1-0 win against the San Diego Wave. Jaedyn Shaw scored the only goal of the game just before half-time, which proved to be the winner. After the weekend’s results, they are now four points clear on top of the table. Sam Kerr started and played the whole match for Gotham.
The Portland Thorns got themselves back in the winner’s circle with a rollicking 4-3 victory over the Boston Legacy. All four of their goals were scored in the first half, with Mackenzie Arnold managing to assist Pietra Tordin’s third just before half-time. The Legacy gave themselves a chance but ultimately could not find the equaliser to walk away with something from the match. Arnold played the full match for the Thorns in goal.
Sweden
FC Rosengård were defeated 2-0 by Växjö DFF in a crucial relegation six-pointer. Växjö scored twice in quick succession in the first half, prompting early changes for the visitors. Those stabilised the ship, but Rosengård were not able to find the goals they needed to get themselves back in the game. Remy Siemsen, Izzy Gomez and Bryleeh Henry all started for Rosengård.
Canada
Calgary Wild won their first match of the NSL season, defeating the Vancouver Rise 3-2 in a thrilling comeback. Kahli Johnson’s cross assisted the equalising goal to make it 2-2 before putting in another cross that led to the winner. The CommBank Matilda was introduced from the bench in the first half.
England
Everton defeated Newcastle in a pre-season friendly 1-0. Dutch youth international Rosa van Gool scored the only goal of the game in the 60th minute. Holly McNamara and Clare Wheeler took part for the Toffees, while Kaitlyn Torpey lined up for the Magpies.
Atlético Madrid defeated Charlton 1-0 on the first day of their pre-season camp in Spain. Emily van Egmond and Leah Davidson both started on the bench for Charlton, involved in their first match for their new club.
Chelsea defeated an Auckland FC invitational side 7-0 to start their pre-season in comprehensive fashion. Aggie Beever-Jones scored a hat-trick for the Blues at Eden Park. Ellie Carpenter started the match for Chelsea.
Mary Fowler started for Manchester City as they drew 1-1 with Fiorentina. The goal for City was a late equaliser from Lauren Hemp.
Tottenham Hotspur defeated Granada 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Signe Gaupset. Clare Hunt was not in the travelling squad for their pre-season camp in Spain as she continues to rehabilitate her knee injury from the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
Brighton & Hove Albion drew 1-1 with a travelling PSG in good early signs for their squad. Maisie Symonds scored the goal for the Seagulls from a direct free kick. Charlie Rule started from the bench.
Mexico
Emily Gielnik scored her first goal for Pumas UNAM in the Liga MX Femenil, netting the match-winner in the 90th minute to see Pumas record a 2-1 victory over Necaxa, picking up their first points of the Apertura season.
