Matildas Abroad Preview: Wolfsburg take on Bayern Munich in the Supercup Final

Sharn Freier's Vfl Wolfsburg will have a chance to pick up their first silverware of the season when they take on Bayern Munich in the Supercup Final meanwhile, AS Roma play their UEFA Women's Champions League qualifiers.

United States

Kaitlyn Torpey and Mackenzie Arnold's Portland Thorns look to get back to winning ways when they host last-place Utah Royals. The Thorns suffered a 2-0 defeat in their last NWSL outing, going down to the ladder-leaders, Kansas City Current, and have the chance to maintain their spot in the top eight with a win over Utah. This game will kick off at 12:30pm AEST on Saturday. 

Cortnee Vine's North Carolina Courage take on the ladder-leaders, Kansas City Current, as the Courage look to bounce back from a disappointing 3-3 draw with Chicago last weekend. The Courage sit just outside the top eight, with goal difference keeping them outside of the finals spots. This game will kick off at 9:30am AEST on Sunday.

Morgan Aquino's DC Power FC will look to make it two from two to start the USL Super League season when they take on Spokane Zephyr FC on Sunday at 9:00am AEST. DC Power kicked off their season last weekend with a 3-1 win, while Spokane are still searching for their first points of the season after going down 2-1 in their opener.

Sweden

Aussies go head-to-head in Sweden as Amy Sayer and Remy Siemsen's Kristianstads DFF hosts Jada Whyman's AIK in what is set to be an exciting game. Both teams come into the game off the back of 1-0 defeats, with AIK beating Kristianstads 2-0 earlier in the season. Four points separate the sides on the table heading into the game, which will kick off at 9:00pm AEST on Saturday. 

Courtney Nevin's Malmö welcomes 10th-place Växjö DFF, with Malmö looking to pick up all three points and potentially go to the top of the table. Currently, one point separates Nevin's side from Hammarby at the top of the table, with Malmö having one game in hand. This game will kick off at 9:00pm AEST on Saturday. 

Finishing up in Sweden, Daniela Galic's Vittsjö GIK will host Aivi Luik's BK Häcken. Both sides come into the game off the back of defeats in their last league outings, with Häcken hoping to get all three points to ensure they keep their spot in the top three. This game will kick off at 9:00pm AEST on Saturday. 

Germany

Sharn Freier's Vfl Wolfsburg will have a chance to pick up their first silverware of the season when they take on Bayern Munich in the Supercup Final. Fresh off scoring a goal in her debut for Wolfsburg last week, Freier will likely be called upon as her team takes on Munich. 

The Supercup der Frauen is contested by the winners of the previous season's league and national cup competition; however, since Bayern claimed both, they will face the runners-up of the Bundesliga, Wolfsburg. 

This game will kick off at 10:00pm AEST on Saturday, and can be watched via DFB Play TV.  

Mexico

Emily Gielnik's CF Monterrey hosts FC Juarez in Round 9 of the Liga MX Femenil Apertura. Monterrey were held to a 1-1 draw against Chivas in their mid-week game, while FC Juraez comes into the game off the back of a 2-1 victory. This game will kick off at 10:00am AEST on Saturday.

Canada

Kahli Johnson's Calgary Wild FC travel to take on AFC Toronto on Sunday morning at 4:00am AEST. Both sides come into the game off the back of defeats, as Calgary hope to get all three points and keep their hopes of finals football alive in the inaugural season.

Italy

Wini Heatley's AS Roma have their chance to book their spot in the third round of qualifying for the UEFA Women's Champions League 2025/26 season when they take on Sparta Prague on Saturday at 11:00pm AEST. 

Roma advanced to the final of the second round of qualifying after beating Aktobe 2-0, while Sparta beat FC Nordsjælland 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 4-4 in regular time. 

England

Pre-season preparations ramp up as the WSL kicks off next weekend for the 2025/26 season. Sam Kerr and Ellie Carpenter's Chelsea will host AC Milan in their final pre-season friendly before they begin their title defence. This game will kick off at 10:00pm AEST on Saturday, and is free to watch via the Chelsea YouTube Channel. 

Katrina Gorry's West Ham United take on Charlie Rule's Brighton & Hove Albion in their final pre-season friendly game on Saturday at 11:00pm AEST. 

Clare Wheeler's Everton takes on Juventus in their final pre-season test before the league kicks off next weekend, kicking off on Saturday at 11:00pm AEST. 

Alanna Kennedy could make her first appearance after signing for the newly promoted London City Lionesses throughout the week when they take on Leicester City in their last pre-season friendly on Saturday morning at 12:00am AEST. 

Emily van Egmond's Birmingham City Women continue to build towards their WSL2 campaign as they take on Liverpool in their final pre-season friendly on Monday morning at 12:00am AEST.
