Matildas Abroad Preview: English clubs back in action in FA Cup Fourth Round

After frozen pitches earlier in the month, the final four games of the fourth round of the FA Cup kick-off tomorrow morning.

Clare Wheeler's Everton will be looking to progress to the fifth round when they host Charli Grant, Clare Hunt and Hayley Raso's Tottenham Hotspur. When the two sides met earlier in the WSL season, it took a penalty from the spot to separate the two sides, with Spurs taking all three points with a 2-1 win.

Spurs finished runners-up in the competition in the 2023-24 season, going down in the final 4-0 to Manchester United. The winner of this fixture will take on the WSL defending Champions, Chelsea, in the fifth round. 

Everton v Tottenham Hotspur

Next up, Charlie Rule's Brighton & Hove Albion will take on Championship side Durham for a spot in the fifth round, with the Seagulls looking to break their three-game losing streak in all competitions. 

The winner of this fixture will take on Aston Villa in the fifth round.

Steph Catley, Kyra Cooney-Cross and Caitlin Foord's Arsenal will be looking to book their spot in the next round when they host Championship side Bristol City in their fixture. Arsenal will be aiming to replicate the efforts that saw them beat Brighton 4-0 in the League Cup last week, and bounce back from their narrow defeat to Chelsea over the weekend.

Bristol City come into the game in good form, currently sitting in second place in the Championship, following their relegation from the top flight last season. The winner of this fixture will take on Championship side London City Lionesses in the next round.

Lastly, Katrina Gorry's West Ham United host Teagan Micah's Liverpool for a place in the next round. West Ham comes into the game off the back of a 2-0 win over Everton on the weekend, while Liverpool will be looking to get back to their best following a 2-1 defeat to Leicester City.

The winner of this fixture will take on the National League side Rugby Borough for a place in the quarter-finals.
