Match Preview: Westfield Matildas v New Zealand - Rio 2016 Olympics Farewell

On Tuesday night at 7:00pm (AEST), the Westfield Matildas are set to meet fellow Rio 2016 Olympics qualifiers and Trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in a friendly match at Etihad Stadium.

It is the second match in the Westfield Matildas’ Rio 2016 Olympics farewell series, with Australia defeating the Football Ferns 2-0 on Saturday, thanks to a brace from Caitlin Foord.

This is the final opportunity for Olympic hopefuls to impress in action before the final 18 player team heads to Brazil in August.

The match is a welcomed warm-up before both teams begin their Olympic campaign. The Westfield Matildas face London 2012 bronze medallists Canada, world no.2 Germany and Olympic debutantes Zimbabwe.

For the Football Ferns the match is a prime build up for their Rio 2016 Olympics campaign where they face 3x defending United States, world number three France and South Americans Colombia.
