Squad News
CommBank Matildas head coach Joe Montemurro has named a 24-player squad for the games against Wales and England.
This window sees the return of some familiar faces, with Sam Kerr receiving her first call-up in 692 days, with the forward returning to the squad for the first time since November 2023 after sustaining an ACL injury in January 2024.
Cortnee Vine has been called back into the squad, with the forward’s last call-up coming during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The winger comes into the squad for the first time in 2025 off the back of some crucial minutes with club side the North Carolina Courage in the NWSL.
Katrina Gorry also comes back into the squad, with the midfielder missing Australia’s last three FIFA International Windows through injury and personal leave.
Our Opponent
Wales, who qualified for their first major tournament, UEFA Women's Euro 2025, in December 2024, are ranked 32 in of FIFA’s global rankings. They have never qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup, with their best result in the UEFA play-offs final for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup when they lost to Switzerland, ranked 24.
The Dragons will be bidding farewell to 165-capped captain Jess Fishlock, in the game, with the midfielder announcing her retirement from international football. Fishlock is no stranger to her opposition, having played with and alongside a number of them across her stints with Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory and Seattle Reign.
Rhian Wilkinson's side recently played in their first major tournament, competing at the UEFA Women's Euro 2025; however, they were unable to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament after not picking up a point in a tricky group that included the eventual and reigning champions, England.
