Mackenzie Arnold signs new deal with the Portland Thorns FC until 2027

Mackenzie Arnold has signed a new contract with Portland Thorns, which will see her continue her stay in the USA, exercising her 2027 mutual option in her contract.

Arnold signed for the Thorns mid-way through the 2024 season, after an impressive FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 campaign, one at which she recorded four shutouts as she helped Australia to a fourth-place finish, which saw her short-listed for #TheBest FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award in 2023.

The goalkeeper ranks as one of the best shot stoppers in the league so far this season, as the Thorns have recorded 6 wins in their opening 9 games to start the season. Arnold has made 22 saves so far this season and has kept three clean sheets to help lead the Portland Thorns to the top of the league standings at the moment.

“Mackenzie has been a part of our success in building a championship-calibre team," President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said to thorns.com. “We are excited to see her continued impact on and off the pitch.”

“I’m excited to be extending my contract in Portland because of the incredible people, the momentum we’ve built together, and the opportunity to keep growing both professionally and personally in a place that’s starting to feel like my second home,” Arnold said.

Since making her debut in the 2024 season for the Thorns, she has made 31 appearances across all NWSL competitions and kept eight clean sheets during that time, playing an instrumental part in her side making the semi-finals in the 2025 season.

Arnold will be back in action on Monday morning 8am AEST, when her Thorns host Angel City in Round 10 of the NSWL. You can catch the NWSL on Stan Sport.
