Williams made 11 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions over the two seasons she was with the Gunners, and make one start for PSG in the D1.

Head coach Jen Scheuer said, “Lydia brings a huge amount of experience to the team. She has played over 100 times for Australia and has a good understanding of the WSL from her time with Arsenal. Hopefully, we will see some of her wonderful saves!"

“Well done to everyone involved in making sure that Lydia is a Brighton player, we’re delighted to have her," Scheuer told brightonandhovealbion.com.

Williams joins shot-stoppers Megan Walsh and Katie Startup vying for a position in goals, with Brighton sitting just shy of the relegation zone in 11th place with 7 points.

The Seagulls have the hard task of playing Williams' former side this weekend, looking to keep Arsenal at bay and move up the table.

“Now we have three good goalkeepers the competition will be a lot stronger and that’s good for the team. I am sure Lydia will have a big impact.”
