Kaitlyn Torpey signs for Portland Thorns FC in the NWSL

Defender Kaitlyn Torpey has signed for Portland Thorns FC in the NWSL ahead of the 2025 season, making the move from San Diego Wave FC.

Torpey made 17 appearances across all competitions for San Diego Wave FC last season, her first move overseas after signing a record-breaking transfer from Melbourne City.

The young defender will now be playing alongside fellow Australian Mackenzie Arnold at Thorns FC. Torpey's debut season with the Wave, although stunted by injury, saw her find the back of the net during the Thorns' CONCACAF W Champions Cup.

Thorns GM Jeff Agoos: “We are happy to add Kaitlyn to our group for the 2025 season. Her recent International and NWSL experience strengthens our backline. We look forward to her contributions for the Thorns.”

Torpey has signed a contract through the 2025 season in Portland and will be hoping to make her debut for the club in their season-opener against the Kansas City Current.
