CommBank Matildas goalkeeper Jada Whyman is set to return to the A-League Women’s, rejoining Sydney FC on a two-year deal. Whyman returns to the Sky Blues, where she helped the club lift five major trophies during her first spell at the club.
The shotstopper returns to the A-League Women's after two seasons in Sweden with AIK, where she made 28 competitive appearances and kept nine clean sheets before a knee injury cut her time short.
Whyman signed for Sydney FC ahead of the 2020/21 season after spending five seasons with cross-town rivals, Western Sydney Wanderers. Her first season in Sky Blue saw her help her side to the Premiership; however, they would go down to Melbourne Victory in the Grand Final in extra time.
Sydney FC made it three consecutive Premiership titles from the 2020/21 season to the 2022/23 season, and claimed the Championship in two of those seasons, with Whyman named the 2021 Grand Final Player of the Match and selected in three PFA A-League Women Teams of the Season.
Her time with Sydney FC saw her make 73 appearances, keeping 29 clean sheets across four seasons, and helping the Sky Blues win three consecutive Premierships and back-to-back Championships.
“I’m incredibly happy to be coming back to Sydney FC – this club has always felt like home to me,” she said.
“I have so many fantastic memories in Sky Blue, and I’m excited to be back with the girls, competing for trophies and hopefully playing regularly again.
“There’s a huge year ahead, particularly with a World Cup next year, and my focus is on performing at my best for Sydney FC and helping us have a successful season.”
Sydney FC will kick off their 2026/27 season against Adelaide United on Sunday, August 18th at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.
