Ellie Carpenter named in the PFA WSL Team of the Year

Ellie Carpenter has been selected for the 2026 PFA WSL Team of the Year, voted for by professionals across England’s top division, and named on the list for the first time in her career.

The 2025/26 season saw Carpenter make her WSL debut for Chelsea, making 19 appearances in the league, scoring twice and providing two assists. Carpenter was named in the PFA WSL Team of the Year alongside her Chelsea teammates Hannah Hampton and Lauren James.

The defender becomes the third CommBank Matilda player to be named to the PFA WSL Team of the Year, with Sam Kerr being named on the team three times (2020/21, 2021/22 & 2022/23), while Mary Fowler featured on the team last year for the 2024/25 season.

The PFA WSL Team of the Year for 2026:

Goalkeeper: Hannah Hampton (Chelsea).

Defenders: Kerstin Casparij (Manchester City), Tōko Koga (Tottenham Hotspur), Ellie Carpenter (Chelsea) and Emily Fox (Arsenal).

Midfielders: Yui Hasegawa (Manchester City), Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal) and Jessica Park (Manchester United).

Forwards: Bunny Shaw (Manchester City), Alessia Russo (Arsenal) and Lauren James (Chelsea).
