CommBank Matildas Head Coach, Joe Montemurro, today confirmed a 24-player squad for the upcoming October FIFA international window.
Sam Kerr (Chelsea), who is named in the squad, will return to the national team for the first time since November 2023, following an ACL injury sustained in January 2024.

Kerr’s inclusion headlines a strong squad as the CommBank Matildas look to refine their combinations and build momentum leading into next year's AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™.
The named team is a combination of experience and emerging talent with Montemurro focused on developing depth in the squad ahead of their chance to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in Brazil in 2027.
Head Coach Joe Montemurro, said the squad selection is shaped by recent performances, positional balance and the strategic goals ahead.
“We are excited to bring this group together for two important fixtures in the October window where we have the opportunity to challenge ourselves, strengthen our cohesion, and continue shape the way we play.
“The squad showcases the depth we are looking to build, by utilising experienced players who continue to set high standards alongside the next generation of CommBank Matildas players.
“It will be Australia’s first time competing against Wales and there is a competitive history with England, so both games will provide different challenges to test the team, our playing style and the way be play together.
“Having Sam back in the squad is a special moment - not just for the team, but for Australian football. Her leadership and presence are invaluable as we continue building toward the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™ and beyond.

“The team and my expectations in October are that we will continue to work hard, be humble and grow as a collective unit.”
The October camp marks the return of two fan favourites, Cortnee Vine and Katrina Gorry, whose presence adds energy and experience to the CommBank Matildas lineup. North Carolina Courage forward Vine is known for her pace and attacking flair, while Gorry, a midfield anchor for West Ham United FC, will bring tenacity, vision, and leadership to the group.
Forward Mary Fowler (ACL) and midfielder Tameka Yallop (hamstring) remain unavailable for selection due to injury.
Pending selection, Hayley Raso also stands to mark her 100th appearance for Australia – an achievement that would see her become just the 17th player in CommBank Matildas history to reach the century mark.

Australia is due to take on Wales at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, 25 October (kick-off 2.00pm BST local), before heading to Derby, England to face the Lionesses at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday 28 October (kick-off 7.00pm BST local).
Australia and England have met seven times previously, with the Lionesses holding a slight edge: four wins to the Matildas’ two, and one draw. Their most recent clash came in the high-stakes semi-final of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Sydney, where England triumphed 3-1 in front of a record-breaking television audience—one of the most-watched programs in Australian broadcast history.
The FIFA October window will mark the first time the CommBank Matildas have faced Wales.
