Quote attributable to Football Australia’s Executive Director – Football, Heather Garriock:

“The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup™ and FIFA U-17 World Cup™ draws are an important moment for our program and for the future of Australian football.

These tournaments are where young players begin to understand what international football truly demands - the intensity, the pressure, the standards and the mindset required to compete consistently on the world stage.

For many of these players, this will be the first time they experience football at this level, against nations with deep football history, playing styles and strong development systems. That challenge is exactly what accelerates our growth.

We want our young players exposed to the best environments, the best opponents and the highest expectations because those experiences help shape future CommBank Matildas and CommBank Socceroos.

Qualifying for these tournaments is an achievement in itself, but our focus now is on preparation, learning and ensuring these teams continue to grow together as part of our long-term football vision.”
