Alana Murphy signs with SC Sand in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga

Alana Murphy has signed with SC Sand in the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga, signing with the German side after spending the last four seasons with Melbourne Victory in the A-League Women's.

SC Sand currently plays in the second division in Germany, narrowly missing out on promotion last season to the top tier, sitting six points outside of the top three, and thus missing their chance to return to Germany's top flight.

Murphy's time at Victory saw her 75 appearances, scoring four goals across her four seasons in the league. The midfielder was part of the team that won the 2021/22 Championship for Jeff Hopkins' side.

"As a central midfielder, she impresses with her excellent passing game and remarkably high tactical understanding, especially considering her young age."

"These qualities have already enabled her to make her first appearances for the Australian national team. At Sand, we want to support her on her further path so that she can continue to develop and successfully establish herself in German women's football." Sand's sporting director, Sascha Reiß, said of the new signing.

The 2025–26 2. Frauen-Bundesliga season is set to kick off from the 23rd of August, with SC Sand taking on 1. FSV Mainz 05 in their opening game of the season.
